Visited family

At the moment I’m in Melbourne (again) after hanging out a couple of days in Perth (West Australia).

Last Friday I uploaded my last post… So let’s start from there… On Friday evening Max, Aaron (colleague of Max) and I went to Perth city centre to drink a few beers at the Aviary rooftop bar. A couple went a… full box?? and while having fun we missed our public transport to Baldivis (suburb where Max and his colleagues lives). We also ate a donner kebab, however these after-drinking-beer snacks are not the same quality I used to have in Holland.. Still we had a great night.!

Saturday I went to visit family ! Family from far far away! My moms cousins live in Subiaco which is a suburb a few minutes drive from Perth (North of the river, which is the good part of WA Perth region ???:). I met Denise, Marie and Betty who picked me up at Fremenatle train station. From there we took the car to the north and had a late lunch in a restaurant on the shore. I was advised to eat Kangaroo steak, however I hadn’t seen one in real live (yet). During lunch ante Betty showed me a picture of my mom and Denise taken in 1973 in the city of Dordrecht, Netherlands! Funny! After I finished eating kangaroo we went to see kangaroos, ye! Denise took us to a “special park” (In Dutch: we gingen eigenlijk naar een Begraafplaats), where lots of Kangaroos where hanging around! Funny creatures, especially while they are hopping around. In the late afternoon we drove to Denise’s house to have a cup of coffee and I had a look where all the family Is living nowadays. It was exciting and a real pleasure to meet family!

On Saturday-night Max, a bunch of his colleagues and me went for dinner in a Indian restaurant in Rockingham. We had a relaxing night, because we had to save some of our energy for Sunday, Australia Day, which a comparable with Queensday.

So after getting to bed early, and waking up early, Max and Aaron went to the gym while I had my first swim in the Australian ocean. Luckily I was so smart to forget to do some sun cream on…grr (skin burned massively). I was glad this didn’t threw any roet in the dinner 🙂 (Dutch saying) so Australian day went to be a day not to forget. We chilled on the beach with boxes full of cold Coronas and had a BBQ on the balcony of one of the apartments of Max his Colleagues (with a stunning sea view). Pity I had to leave the party early, at 19:30u, to catch my flight. During the night I flew from Perth back to Melbourne.

On Monday I was in Melbourne again and visited, for the very first time, a cricket game in the famous MCG stadium (Melbourne Cricket Grounds). This massive stadium can hold up to 100.000 visitors so it was quite intense to be in the stadium. Pity there where “just” around 20.000 visitors so the stadium looked a bit empty, however the game was really amusing.

Today I took a bicycle to explore city shore. I’ve been chilling on the beach at St. Kilda and ate very tasteful pizza !

Tomorrow I’m off to Sydney!
Cheers!
