Asia Part I

Asia Part I

Rushing through Asia… Islands and capitols!

After 6 weeks Australia I flew on Tuesday the 4th of March to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. First stop visiting Ruud Poels, my old Nyenrode Uni neighbor! After arrival I headed immediately towards his apartment located closely to Little India in city centre. Luckily the reception was so kind to open the door for me so I could enter the 17th floor apartment with amazing view ! First thing: LAUNDRY!…. thank god!! I was ranning out of clean clothes, but Ruud has laundry facilities which I needed desperately to refresh my bag pack again… Moreover the kitchen in his apartment was well equipped with some eggs and toast.. tasted really nice when fried during lunchtime ! Next the couch was my favorite spot for the rest of the afternoon to have a rest and wait until Ruud would be back from work.

Awesome, Ruud was there around 07:00pm and.. after haven’t seeing each other for.. 18 months ?.. it felt like we’ve been drinking beer last night in de Kelderbar. Good old days! Nice catching up mate! In the eve we went to Jalan Alor for dinner (Asian style, Plastic chairs and street BBQs!) and later on in the same area, Bukit Bintang, for some beers!

Morning! Whoo.. Nice view :

On Wednesday I planned to explore the city… and that’s what I’ve done! Google maps informed me that it’s “just” 75minutes walk from Ruud his apartment to the Petronas twin towers. However, the pavements in KL are not really suited to have long walks on. After walking for 2,5 hours I still had the Twins in my sight, but not reached yet.. Fck! The pavements, roads and traffic are.. Duhh Asian style.. Chaotic :). In the end of the afternoon, after late lunch (Needed a rest) I finally got there. The Sky was clear, sun was shining, I was shining, so perfect conditions for a selfie with the twins !

Next stop was the KL radio tower where I met two dutchies, Danielle & Judith who just started traveling. During my stay (Part I in Asia) I kept in touch with the girls. We’ve been drinking beers on the Raggae rooftop bar, spent a highlight tour through KL together and finally, when our paths crossed again we ended up on Koh Phangan, Full Moon Party!

The week before Koh Phangan, me and Ruud drove for the weekend to Penang, an island located in the west of Malaysia. What an adventure, drive on a Malaysian highway… Crazy & fun! After a four hour drive we checked in, dropped our stuff and went to a kind of a Bob Marley bar to spent the night with beer & Shisha!

The next day was even more adventurous then the Friday night ride. Ruud and I rented two motorbikes and drove along the island. Taking over on the left, taking over on the right, speeding, drive through red traffic lights, ride on the highway, jungle paths… No rules, No problemo-style ends up in two happy 25year old child’s :-).

Pity…On Sunday afternoon mr Poels had to leave Penang, because he had to work on Monday again. It was really nice to spent a few days with you!

When Ruud left I stayed on the island and took a Monday morning, 3 hour ferry to Lang Kawi (almost missed it in a minute..). Lang Kawi is a more laid back, touristic island compared to the city wise island Penang. Nice to see both!

Also on Lang Kawi I rented a bike and cruised over the island, to; the Cable car (was not running due to technical problems… Pity), northern beaches, Eagle Square, highest viewpoint (nice ride to get to the top!), cable car again (just to check if it was fixed), gas station (2,10 ringgit = 0,50€ for a liter gasoline.. Cheap!), Mangrove boats, sunset beach and so on.. I stayed over on the Cenang area in Rumours guesthouse. Good guesthouse !

On Thursday, 13th of March I transferred from Lang Lawi to Koh Phangan, Thailand. What a transfer ! Blee.. The taxi-ferry-customs-taxi-bus-minivan-ripoff-&night ferry took eventually 22 hours to finally get on the pirate island Koh phangan, but it was worth it! On Saturday night, the 15th of March it was full moon, resulted in a full moon party with 12.000 neon painted party people on sunrise beach, Haad Rin on Koh Phangan! I survived..

This morning, after a resting Sunday I moved from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui with a bumpy ferry. On Tuesday-eve I will fly from Koh Samui airport to Bangkok& Bangkok to Shanghai, China to meet Richard de Kunderrrr… Hellll ye, looking forward to meet one of my best friends :).

Happy Thai greet!
